An eye-opening article from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention: several people are thought to have caught mumps from flying on commercial airplanes with infected passengers. Yikes! Maybe I should take a surgical mask to wear next time I fly somewhere.

If you’re that concerned about mumps, isn’t there a vaccine? (I believe it’s the so-called “MMR” vaccine, that innoculates against Measles, Mumps, and Rubella).
I’m not worried about mumps per se as much as I am other less dangerous but more common germs. I hate getting colds and other URIs, and airplanes are an excellent place to catch ’em.
Ah.
In that case it might also be helpful to take all the precautions I’ve heard about regarding that too. The only one I remember right now is moistening your sinuses with saline solution. I’ll mail you if I remember everything else.
